Information About Immigration Enforcement
CSUN is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all members of our campus community. California State University (CSU) campuses, including CSUN, do not assist immigration officials engaged in enforcement activities on our campus, including officials of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. CSUN's Department of Police Services (DPS) will not investigate, detain, or arrest individuals for violations of federal immigration law.
Please be advised that university employees have been directed to refer any inquiries from federal, state, or local officials regarding the immigration status of any member of our CSUN community to DPS at (818) 677-2111. Similarly, you are asked to notify CSUN DPS at (818) 677-2111 if you have reason to believe an immigration officer is expected to enter, will enter or has entered our campus to execute a federal immigration order. DPS will act as a liaison with immigration enforcement officials and will coordinate with the CSU Office of General Counsel for guidance, references, and resources as available.
The CSU has compiled Resources for Undocumented Students, including Know Your Rights and Information Preparedness Toolkits. You are encouraged to fully review these materials.
CSUN remains committed to protecting student data in accordance with federal and state laws and ensuring data is used solely for its intended purpose. Student records are not released to a third party, including immigration enforcement officials, without a student’s permission or a proper judicial order.
CSUN will continue to follow the guidance from the December 2024, California Attorney General’s guidance on immigration concerns: “Promoting a Safe and Secure Campus for All”.
CSUN remains committed to our equity core values while educating, supporting, and prioritizing the safety of all students and strives to ensure our campus continues to be a welcoming environment for all.
We wish you all the best for a productive Spring term!
Sincerely,
