Dear colleagues,
I write to share the news that following more than a decade of exemplary service to William & Mary, Pamela Eddy, Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs & Development, has decided to retire at the end of this semester.
Pam joined W&M as an associate professor in the School of Education in 2008. A sought-after teacher and mentor on campus, she also became the inaugural Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs & Development in 2023. During her time at W&M, Pam authored six books and edited another six, chaired or was a committee member on over 80 dissertations, and delivered 100 keynote addresses. Pam was a Fulbright Scholar in Ireland and over the years hosted five international scholars from China. She was recognized with a 2021 Outstanding Faculty Award from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia and received the 2011 Plumeri Award for Faculty Excellence at William & Mary. She was recognized by her professional associations with the 2023 Association for the Study of Higher Education Mentoring Award, as well as the 2016 Service Award and the 2013 Senior Scholar Award from the Council for the Study of Community Colleges. We have all benefited from her passion for helping faculty of all experience levels cultivate meaningful careers in higher education.
In addition to sharing this exciting milestone for Pam, I want to also notify you that the role of Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs & Development is now open for internal applicants. Thank you to Dean Carrie Cooper for serving as Search Committee Chair for this essential role. I am also grateful to Omiyẹmi Green, Mark Brush, and Adrienne Howard for their committee membership.
It is never easy to say goodbye to a cherished colleague. We will certainly have opportunities to celebrate Pam’s many accomplishments and well-deserved accolades in the coming months. She has also generously agreed to assist in the search and transition process for the next Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs & Development. With that in mind, we are asking for any applications to be completed by March 17th for full consideration. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Pam on her exciting new chapter!
Sincerely,
