First Annual Food & Agriculture Policy Summit |
On Tuesday, October 28th, GFI hosted the first Food and Agriculture Policy Summit. The event brought together industry-leaders spanning all sectors of food systems and included discussions about the state of nutrition on campuses, funding school meals, and how we can educate the next generation of food leaders. Read a reflection from GW Food Leadership minor, Ruby Burns.
One of the day's exciting panels included GFI’s Charlie Basa, a student employee and active Food Leadership Minor. Charlie participated in an interactive focus group moderated by Frank Sesno, Executive Director of GW’s Alliance for a Sustainable Future. The group featured personal reflections on food as connection and community from local students, a Meals On Wheels recipient, food and sustainability educators, and agro-business owners.
