Parents,
On page 15 of the Family Handbook that all SVdP School families read and sign indicating support, it specifically states “Pick-up on 142nd Circle, 143rd Circle, Eagle Run Drive, or any residential development is not allowed.” There are two main reasons we ask this of ALL school families:
Safety – The safety of your children is paramount and we have seen and heard of some very close calls involving the safety of your children while walking/running to vehicles off of our campus.
Being a good neighbor – We must respect the residents of the adjoining neighborhoods. We have seen and heard of way too many instances of people blocking driveways and mailboxes, turning around in driveways, congregating on the neighbors’ lawns/driveways, leaving trash/food on the neighbors’ property…even vandalization of private property.
Unfortunately, because the guidelines on page 15 are not being followed, this has become a real problem. There is hardly a day that goes by that the school and/or church office does not receive a call from another SVdP family or neighbor reporting concerns for student safety, complaints and violations.
This past summer, a petition was unanimously signed by the neighbors on Eagle Run Drive to have No Parking Signs put up along both sides of Eagle Run Drive. The City of Omaha posted these signs right before school started. We had high hopes that this would solve the problem, but all it seems to have done is move the problem East another couple of blocks. We continue to get daily complaints and reports that students are not safe, people are still parking where there are No Parking Signs, cars are blocking driveways and turning around in driveways. We were hoping the city would not have to extend the No Parking signs further East, but it is looking like they may need to do that.
We are once again asking for your assistance to fix this issue. We cannot continue to put your children’s safety in jeopardy or disrespect our neighbors. We truly appreciate your attention to this. Please follow the procedures on Page 15 and 16 of the SVdP Family Handbook. Thank you.
