The Six O’Clock Series has been an IUP tradition for many decades. Through the series, audience members are exposed to new concepts, ways of thinking, and information that will enhance the student experience at IUP and as members of society. Check out what the series offers this semester. This week, on Monday, February 12, you will have the opportunity to watch the film Escalation, a story of an abusive relationship from its beginning to its tragic end. All are invited at 6:00 p.m. in the Elkin Hall Great Room.

MyIUP is getting an updated look and some new functionality this semester. You will still use the portal for the same things you currently do, like registering for classes, accessing financial aid and billing information, and more. With the update, the portal will now have a customizable dashboard, integrations with other products, and a new interface that is mobile-friendly and works on any screen and any device.
Want to learn more? Plan to attend an info session on Wednesday, February 14, at 1:30 p.m. or Thursday, February 15, at 11:30 a.m. If you can’t attend, the sessions will be recorded. Check the MyIUP page for more info, recordings, and updates throughout the semester.

Did You Know That You Can Submit Your Artwork to Be Used in Next Year’s Academic Planner?The University College is accepting submissions for the academic planner cover that will be handed out to incoming fall 2024 students. Over 2,000 students will see your winning cover art! You can submit a design to Allison Baker at allbaker@iup.edu. Designs should be submitted in PNG format (size 8.5 x 11 inches). Please review the IUP Brand Visual Guide and adhere to the guidelines set by the university if using official IUP logos. The winning design will be featured on the IUP University College’s website!

Season Opening for IUP Softball
IUP Softball will face off against Wheeling next Thursday, February 15, for two games, one at 2:00 p.m. and one immediately after at 4:00 p.m. You can cheer on the Hawks in person at Podbielski Field on IUP’s South Campus.

Join the Physics Club at their next meeting on Monday, February 12, at 11:15 a.m. in Kopchick Hall, Room 303. Topics of interest: Physics Olympics, volunteer tutoring program, and club trips to Canada and Erie to watch the solar eclipse.

All students are invited to see our campus resources and engage in wellness events to help practice self-care throughout the semester. We will offer several mindfulness activities (yoga, gratitude journaling, crafting, and meditative art) and a raffle of the book Mindful Twenty-Something. All are invited on Wednesday, February 14, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Stabley Library, second floor, room 203. IUP Libraries and the Writing Center sponsor the event.

Handshake Etiquette
A good handshake helps you make a positive first impression. Make sure your grip is firm, but not too firm, look the other person in the eye, and shake for two to three pumps.
Practice your handshake at one of our six upcoming career fairs/meet-ups happening this spring on and off campus. Visit the CPDC for dates, times, and details. Our first one is Wednesday, February 28, at the KCAC from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You won’t want to miss it!

Questions can be submitted in advance. The deadline for submitting questions in advance is 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19.

All students are invited to this dynamic program on Tuesday, February 13, in Fisher Auditorium from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement, you will learn how university students and youngsters organized and banded together to make their voices heard. Their courage and determination paved the way for the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, a landmark achievement in American History.
