An increasingly rare breed
There was a time when American automakers were happy to produce station wagons, but that was decades ago. Sure, Dodge made the Magnum over a short span in the 2000s and Cadillac produced a long-roof version of the second-generation CTS and Buick offered the Regal TourX in the 2010s, but the American car industry is not the land of wagons it once was. The good news is that the European brands sold here have made wagons for those in search of something more distinctive and capable of hauling cargo than a sedan. If you’re one of those people, take a look at our Pick of the Day, a 2004 Mercedes-Benz C240 Wagon posted on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Nevada.

If there ever was a hard luck performance engine during the muscle car era, FoMoCo’s 390 would be it. As a basic workhorse, it was as good as any engine; as a performance engine, it left a lot to be desired. Though our Pick of the Day, a 1969 Mercury Cougar convertible, is equipped with the 390, it’s still an honest-to-goodness big-block ragtop with tons of torque.

| Are you a Ford fan or a Chevy fan? With this car, you can be both.
The Pick of the Day is a 1940 Ford two-door sedan listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Tustin, California. The car’s aqua-colored exterior evokes a vibe of tropical waters … a fitting shade for a car that would be right at home cruising along the California beachfront.
