Spring has sprung in East Lansing and the march to the end of the semester has begun. As your student prepares to depart East Lansing, it would be a good idea for them to begin downsizing their belongings and, if traveling home prior to moving out, bring items no longer needed for the remainder of the semester. It’s amazing how many additional items students accumulate over the course of the year. Read below for information about Pack Up. Pitch In. programming and how to donate items no longer needed.
Many of you have questions about funding impacts to institutions of higher education and what it means to Michigan State University. We encourage you to sign up for MSUToday Weekly Update email, which includes campus updates and messages from President Guskiewicz. This is the best way to stay apprised of campus information.
What other questions are we hearing from you? When’s Family Weekend?! (We’ll have a save-the-date in May’s newsletter!) When do students buy their season tickets?! (We’ll have that info from Athletics in May, but sign up for Athletics’ family listserv here!) Are you handing out stickers at graduation?! (YES! Come see us at Breslin on Friday, May 2, for the baccalaureate, master’s and educational specialist and doctoral ceremonies!)
We have so much to celebrate, and we appreciate all of you.
Take care,
Laurin

April is Pride Month at MSU
While June is International Pride Month, the university celebrates Pride in the month of April in order to celebrate while a critical mass of students are still on campus. Pride Month starts with an annual kickoff that brings students, staff and faculty together to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ communities and our continued fight for justice. Pride Prom is in April as an opportunity for attendees to wear clothing that makes them feel their best and to attend with the person they want. Follow the Gender and Sexuality Campus Center for more info!

Stay Safe and Informed: Download the SafeMSU App Today
Ensuring the safety of our campus community is a top priority. The SafeMSU app is a vital tool designed to provide real-time alerts and important safety resources. We encourage students to download the app and enable notifications to gain immediate access to emergency updates, safety tips and support services. Due to feedback received from a recent incident, the community may see an increase in communication from MSU DPPS.
Why Download the SafeMSU App?
• Real-Time Alerts: Receive instant notifications related to community bulletins, timely warnings and emergency notifications.
• Quick Access to Emergency Services: Easily contact MSU Police or 9-1-1 with just one tap.
• Safety Resources at Your Fingertips: Access important safety guidelines, campus maps, CATA bus schedules and reporting tools.
Next Steps
Download the SafeMSU app from the App Store or Google Play. Once installed, be sure to allow notifications and explore the app’s features to familiarize yourself with its capabilities.

Spartan Cards Provide Suicide Prevention Resources
A simple yet powerful student-led initiative is ensuring that suicide prevention resources are always accessible by adding them to Michigan State University Spartan Cards. This change underscores the impact of student advocacy and the commitment to prioritizing mental health on campus. Those who are interested in a Spartan Card that contains this new information can visit the ID Office to request a reprint with no replacement fee for a limited time.

MSU Student Veteran Resource Center Renaming to Center for Veterans and Military-Affiliated Students
MSU's Student Veterans Resource Center is entering a new chapter, rebranding as the Center for Veterans and Military-Affiliated Students (CVMAS) to better reflect its growing mission of support for service members, veterans and military-connected students.
The name change, effective this month, comes with a renewed commitment to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for military-affiliated Spartans, not just veterans. CVMAS remains dedicated to recognizing and honoring students’ military backgrounds while guiding them through their academic journeys.
This transition also aligns with the Month of the Military Child, which celebrates the contributions and sacrifices of military families. The center is planning several events for students throughout the month of April.
