Here we are, at the end of another school year. It seems just yesterday we were welcoming students to campus and opening our arms to you, sharing tissues (for happy or sad tears, or those Michigan allergies!), pens, and STICKERS! We have learned and experienced so much with you and your students over this past year. One thing we learned is that you love squirrels almost as much as we do! Looking for your 2024-25 squirrel calendar to plan around next year’s academic dates? Prepurchase them here and watch your mail in late June for that special delivery!
As we head into summer, we hope you take time to care for yourselves and others. We will be taking some time to rest and rejuvenate, then plan for the 2024-25 year, which will be here before we know it. Looking for something specific? Email me your thoughts at family@msu.edu, and we’ll see what we can do! Until then, enjoy time with your Spartan and keep up with us on Facebook and in these monthly newsletters.
Take care,
Laurin

Welcome Incoming Families
We have many incoming families who have joined this email list since our last edition. Welcome to the Spartan family! Spartan Family Connections works to connect you, the families of Spartan students, to resources, support and information to help your student succeed at MSU with the goal of participating in commencement activities and becoming a Spartan alum. Our website has direct-linked resources so you don’t have to search for them and previous communications through newsletters and webinars. We also have a private Facebook group that helps with in-the-moment topics and support from experienced Spartan families and a Facebook page with regularly posted tips and resources. We are only a phone call, email, or chat away for more personalized assistance! This is a big institution, and you can consider us your guide along your student’s educational journey. We’re all in this for the same reason (student success!), so let us support you as you support your student!

Incoming Student On-Campus Housing Assignments
MSU Live On is excited to welcome incoming students to on-campus housing this fall. Incoming students won't choose their specific space; instead, they'll select preferences and be assigned by the Housing Assignments Office. Ensure your student signs their Housing Contract in their My Housing account after they complete their Advanced Enrollment Deposit and set up their MSU NetID. If they are under 18, the contract must be co-signed by a parent/guardian. Housing contracts are due no later than June 12.
The housing preference process will be open May 15 through June 12. Preferences include preferred bathroom type, dining plan selection, roommate requests and more.
Incoming transfer students are waived from the live-on requirement, but they are welcome to request on-campus housing in their My Housing account; most offers will be for a double room.
Learn more here.
Incoming Student Housing Webinar
Incoming students and their families are invited to our Housing Assignment Webinar Tuesday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Register here.

Buy Ahead Dining for Students Living Off Campus
You have likely felt the impact of the cost of goods and services in your lives, in the grocery store, big box stores, and any labor needed for projects or repairs. Increasing the housing and dining rates is a result of the same impact on the university. Students staying in the residence halls for their required second year have rates held as a part of that requirement, but those with students moving or currently living off campus may want to take advantage of current dining rates. By purchasing off-campus meal plans before Aug. 2, you can take advantage of this year’s rates before the academic year increase. Meal plans can be purchased through unlimited plans of Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Lock in the rates now before the Aug. 2 increase!
