Standing Ovation: George Van Dusen Theatre Unveiled
|
The Center Theatre at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie has been officially renamed the George Van Dusen Theatre! The newly named theatre honors Mayor Van Dusen’s 40 years of dedicated public service to the Village of Skokie—including 26 years as mayor and 14 years as trustee.
A champion for arts and culture: Throughout his decades of leadership, Mayor Van Dusen has been a tireless advocate for arts and cultural initiatives in Skokie. His efforts have helped bring to life key institutions, including the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts In Skokie, the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, and the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park.
A public art proponent: Under Mayor Van Dusen’s leadership, Skokie has become a vibrant hub for public art, with the Village supporting the installation of sculptures and murals throughout Skokie.
