Happy Homecoming! This year, we celebrate a monumental milestone—125 years of Coppin State University. For over a century, Coppin has been a pillar of strength, a champion for education, and a catalyst for transformation. From our founding as a training school for Black teachers to our evolution as a powerhouse of academic excellence and community impact, Coppin’s legacy is one of resilience, brilliance, and boundless opportunity.

This anniversary is more than a celebration of our history—it is a testament to the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters who have shaped Coppin into the institution we cherish today. It is a moment to reflect on our triumphs, honor the pioneers who paved the way, and ignite excitement for the bright future ahead.
As we mark this historic occasion, I look forward to delivering the State of the University Address on Thursday, February 20 at 12 p.m. This will be an opportunity to highlight the outstanding achievements of our students, faculty, and staff—from groundbreaking research to extraordinary artistic performances. I am also excited to share our vision for the future, outlining the goals and opportunities that will drive Coppin’s continued success in the years ahead.

Campus Conversation with President Jenkins

Join President Jenkins on Tuesday, February 25, at noon in the Tawes Ballroom for a campus conversation addressing the state budget, federal executive orders, and Coppin's stance during these uncertain times.
The campus conversation is a follow up to his campus letters sent out earlier this month.

Chika Iwuji, student researcher at the Center for Nanotechnology published an article in Chemical Physics Impact, a prestigious journal by Elsevier.
The article, titled, "Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles and their Promising Antimicrobial Effects," highlights innovative research conducted at the Center for Nanotechnology, showcasing the potential of silver nanoparticles in antimicrobial applications.
This publication is a testament to the dedication and innovation of our students and faculty, and Congratulatons Chika and the research team for this outstanding achievement.

Dr. Angela L. Williams, Executive Director of Title III Programs, recently served as a panelist for WHEN BLACK WOMEN LEAD: CHALLENGES, PURPOSE, AND CHANGE, hosted by the University of Maryland Black Alumni Association and the Office of Multicultural Involvement and Community Advocacy (MICA).
The event brought together distinguished Black women in leadership to share their experiences navigating challenges, staying aligned with their purpose, and driving meaningful change within the Black community.

A Legacy of Resilience: Honoring Carter G. Woodson and 125 Years of Coppin State
February 17 | 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Talon Center, Room 218
This panel discussion will honor Coppin State University's 125th anniversary and explore the diverse experiences of Black professionals from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. Panelists will share their career journeys, contributions to labor, and their perspectives on the future of Black labor representation. The event will also highlight the role of Coppin State University in shaping the careers of these alumni, and explore the development of Black history education, the significance of preserving Black heritage, and the ongoing fight for racial justice (RSVP required).

Coppin Chopped - Soul of Labor: A Culinary Tribute to African American Workers

Celebrate 125 years of Coppin State University with a one-of-a-kind culinary experience! This year's Coppin Chopped competition will challenge six teams to cook, create, and curate dishes inspired by the rich history of Black labor and its impact on American society.
