A Note from Donovan
Dear Westminster Family, After last Sunday’s ice storm, Westminster lost power for six days. The freezing temperatures damaged our HVAC unit’s pipes and pumps. Water from the HVAC damaged roofs, ceiling tiles, and some carpeted areas. A special thanks to our Facility Manager, Troy Carpenter, for securing the building so quickly; it could have been much worse.
Due to safety concerns, the church building is currently closed. Troy is collaborating with contractors to expedite repairs. We hope to install four replacement boiler pumps this Friday. Once the pump replacements, chiller, sprinkler, and HVAC repairs are finished, we will restore heat. The building is under 24/7 security monitoring to ensure safety. As we are under fire alert, we must keep the campus closed. If all repairs proceed as planned, we are hopeful that the work will be completed by midweek next week. Please keep in mind that this timeline is only a possibility.
Please keep our wonderful Westminster School for Young Children in your prayers, as this situation is challenging for all families and staff. I’m so grateful for all our staff who have had to pivot and solve crises after crises.
Vine Street Christian has graciously provided us space in their sanctuary for Sunday worship. We are working on a concise service that will include the Congregational Meeting to hear from our Associate Pastor Nominating Committee. We need 200 attendees for quorum, so please make plans to join us.
Finally, I am incredibly grateful for the light of Christ shining through each of you. You all have been so generous with your donation of time, love, and money. You’ve been calling, caring, moving, cutting, and making sure people know the love of God. Thank you all for being so bright!
Peace,
Donovan
