Peak fall colors are coming â usually late October into early November, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. DNRâs Leaf Watch website has a guide to leaf peeping across Georgiaâs state parks, and you can follow their Instagram page and the hashtags #GaLeafWatch and #GaStateParks to track foliage across Georgia.
Â
In the meantime, some photos to whet your leaf appetite shared by the CoE Cares committee.

Back to School Transitions
|
Our campus is bustling with activity again with the fall semester well underway. And for many of our colleagues, this back-to-school season marked new transitions and exciting new chapters in their own lives. Here are a few of those stories.

As the seasons change, so should your cleaning routine.
Â
September 23rd was the first day of fall and the autumnal or fall equinox. What are your local signs of fall? In many regions of the Northern Hemisphere, the landscape silently explodes with vibrant colors of red, yellow, and orange. The leaves begin to drop off the trees, providing endless hours of jumping into leaf piles for kids and raking them back up for parents.

Fall also brings wonderful holidays, including Halloween and Thanksgiving, which carry us through the season until temperatures begin to drop, nights begin to get longer, and all the critters start storing up for the long haul of winter. Donât forget about the end of daylight saving time, when we âfallâ back, setting our clocks back one hour and regaining an hour of precious sleep.
Â
As the leaves and the weather change, here is a fall cleaning checklist to reset your home for the season. Add these tips to your daily, weekly, or monthly to-do list:
- Go through your fridge and freezer to throw out expired items.
-
Change out your AC/HVAC unit filter.
- Sort through spices, cabinets, and pantries.
- Wash throw pillows and blankets.
- Sweep out fireplaces and clean fire pits (if applicable).
- Dust lampshades and blinds for spider webs.
- Declutter gutters.
- Sort through summer clothes and shoes and donate ones you no longer need.
- Dust ceiling fans and flip the fanâs direction to move clockwise.
- Create habits to keep leaves raked.
- Sweep or use a blower to clear walkways, driveways, steps, or porch.
âFall shows us how beautiful it is to let things go! Growth requires release â itâs what the trees do.â â Unknown

The competition was fierce in the annual school chairs contest at the Collegeâs Staff Appreciation Day. Ultimately, Coulter BME Senior Associate Chair Paul Benkeserâs elegant throws and deadly beanbag aim couldnât be overcome, and he prevailed in the cornhole competition.
