| Congratulations to our May Employee of the Month, Etienne!
For the past year, you've likely seen Etienne warmly greeting you at the Service Desk. Beyond Active, he has spent the last eight years training athletes, particularly football players, something that fuels his own drive to exercise. âMy motivation to keep working out is for my physical and mental health. Also, to keep up with my players that I coach out on the football field,â he says. Etienne also credits exercise with helping him overcome mental barriers. âIâve learned how to handle those internal conversations when you donât feel up to going to the gym or being active.âÂ

| This May, weâre excited to feature not one but two of our amazing members, Rod and Nona!
Nona is a retired competitive bodybuilder, so along with cardio, stretching, and swimming, she especially enjoys weight training at the club. Rod also spends time in the weight room and stretching area, as well as the sauna and steam room.Â
To stay motivated, both Nona and Rod point to the mental health benefits, increased energy, better sleep, and improved flexibility they gain from exercise as key inspiration to keep moving.

Recovery isnât the opposite of progress â itâs the foundation that makes progress possible. Every time you train, you create small amounts of stress on your muscles and nervous system. Itâs during rest, not the workout itself, that your body repairs, adapts, and grows stronger. Without proper recovery, performance plateaus, fatigue builds, and motivation dips.
Incorporating gentle movement like stretching, yoga, walking, or mobility work boosts circulation and speeds muscle repair, while massage or foam rolling helps release tension and improve flexibility. Just as importantly, prioritize sleep and nutrition, since both play a major role in tissue recovery and hormone balance. Think of rest as part of your training plan â not a reward for it. The more you honor recovery, the better your body performs, feels, and lasts.
