News worth sharing from Texas Christian University

Claire Astrid Fuchs ’21 is one of four Americans and the first Horned Frog to be named an Eisenhower Global Scholar in 2026. Thanks to this prestigious fellowship, the political science major will pursue a Master of Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University in England.

With 3D modeling data from an aerial drone and imagery acquired by satellites using synthetic aperature radar, professor Esayas Gebremichael and Rosebeidy Hernandez ’22 apply their findings to predict activity and develop an early warning system. 

Tom Strandwitz III ’25 chose nursing because he wanted to be of service. He put those values into action upon graduation from Harris College, setting sail with the inaugural Student Nursing Program that brought free surgical care to African nations.

"I’ve had a lot of people reach out and say how much they enjoy that all the Texas schools are doing it. I think the biggest thing when you lose someone, and especially in a tragic way like that, you just want to make sure that they weren’t forgotten and that their memory somehow lives on."
