Bonjour, Amis!
Senior Golfers ventured to Quebec, Canada this summer and were delighted with the beautiful area, the cool weather, and the charm of Quebec. The event opened with drinks on the hotel patio overlooking the Golf de la Faune course. New member Tom Yuschak was welcomed into the group, telling the story of how he and SGA Director Catherine Powell were paired together on the Old Course in St. Andrews. New member Bob Battle was missed as his flight was delayed into Quebec. Bob had to wait to be introduced on the final evening, where he let everyone in on the fact that he and SGA favorite Diane Bruner had been married just one month before the SGA event!
Jean Spradling, the SGA Judge, is on a streak, having been lady winner at St. Croix, Hershey, and now in Quebec. "I love Canada!" said Jean. "I've been lucky enough to meet a lot of new people on this trip. For me, SGA is about golf, but it's even more about these great places we get to visit, and the new people we enjoy being with. I hope to see you all again soon on the 'SGA Trail!'"
Newcomer Tom Yuschak was winner for the men. When asked to say a little bit about his win, Tom replied, "I want to thank Titleist for supplying me with the many golf balls it took to play the course for three days." Tom continued, "Seriously, I have had a great time here in Quebec, and am hoping to see you this summer at Kennebunkport and Northern Michigan. Thanks, everyone, for being here and making it a great SGA event for me as a newcomer."
Low Net Winners were Bill Suehs and Mary Tebben. Gross runners-up were Jane Harrenga and Jim Harrenga. Runners up at net were Janie Risley and Walt Schroeder. Congratulations and best wishes to all!
After a day of shopping and lunch in Quebec Old Town, SGA FoGS Denise Bassman, Christie Berry, Valerie Castor, Chris Moulton, and Cynthia Swanson adventurously hopped aboard a Zodiac tour boat and accompanied their captain, Yves, out into the St. Lawrence, past Montmercy Falls, and along the waterfront of Quebec City. The FoGs and golfers alike took a day out for a sightseeing and historical tour throughout the area, ending right in Old Town for a lovely evening of exploring, shopping, and dining.
