Congratulations, Rory!

Special best wishes go from all SGA members to 2025 Masters Champion Rory McIlroy. Rory is a constant and special favorite of those in the organization, as evidenced by the SGA Rory McIlroy Tribute Tour to Northern Ireland in 2024, where participants played Rory's home course, Holywood, and browsed the cases of his trophies and memorabilia.
SGA Northern Ireland participants will enjoy this memory of nine-year-old Rory at Holywood.

Senior Golfers returned to the Arizona desert in March of this year, and found the iconic Tucson area just as interesting as ever. The event began with drinks in the Peak bar of the hotel, with a spectacular view of the mountain sunset, and dinner on the breezy patio of the the hotel's Legends, named for the legends of the PGA Tour's Chrysler Classic such as Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, Kite and more.
Newcomer Tony Broussard was welcomed to the SGA group, and brought his own special style of the Lafayette charm to SGA. Frequent SGA winners Jim & Jane Harrenga were again on top for the event. "I have to admit to some local knowledge," said Jim. "Jane and I live right around the corner in Scottsdale, and we love playing the desert courses. It's great to have our SGA friends out here in our neighborhood." Jane had the fun task of surprising an old friend of her daughter's, who is now a server in the golf grill at Tucson National. "Jeremy! I'm Rachel's mom!" Jane exclaimed as she removed her golf hat. Jeremy was delighted to see a fellow native of Sioux Falls out in the desert.
Winners on the RTJ Trail were Wayne Dadetto and Charlene Gideon.  "These courses were very interesting, and all were beautiful." said Wayne. "I really have enjoyed traveling on the Alabama Golf Trail throughout the years. It's pretty amazing what Mr. Jones has done with his golf palette throughout the entire state."  Charlene enjoyed her time in Huntsville so much that she is planning to recommend it as the site for her professional group to visit for their meeting next year.  "The ones who play golf will love the courses," she said, "and all the non-golfers can have fun being adults at Space Camp!
Congratulations and best wishes to all!

Baker & Able: The Original Space Heroines

Two years before Alan Sheppard was a passenger on the Freedom 7, two humble female laboratory monkeys, named only with the Allied military letters, Able and Baker, took flight on May 28, 1959, soaring 300 miles  up during a 15-minute flight. Stuffed into a Jupiter Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Able, a rhesus monkey, and Baker, a squirrel monkey, survived their predawn flight and were fished out of the Caribbean safely, the first animals to survive a flight into space.
The theme of the SGA hotel for the event, the charming 106 Jefferson in downtown Huntsville, was, of course -- monkeynauts. SGA participants enjoyed learning this unique part of the history of space flight. They also enjoyed visiting 106 Jefferson's unique rooftop bar, Baker & Able, overlooking the pictuesque landscape of the Huntsville area.
