Dear CC Community,

Recent developments—such as delays in visa processing, threats to visa and citizenship status, expanded travel restrictions, and increased immigration enforcement—have created fear and uncertainty for many in our international community. Please know that you are not alone. Colorado College is committed to standing with every student, scholar and staff member affected through these turbulent times. You are a valued and essential part of our community, and we remain deeply grateful for the perspectives, experiences, and richness you bring to our campus. Our strength lies in our diversity, and we will continue to advocate for all who call our global community home.

A new cross-divisional operational governance committee, International People and Practices, was formed in April to ensure collaboration with, and clarity for, impacted community members at this critical moment. This group brings together members of Enrollment, Student Life, Human Resources, Global Education, and International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), with support from units like Communications & Marketing, ITS, and the President’s Office, to ensure cohesive, clear, and consistent communication and support services to mitigate challenges. You can read meeting minutes from this group on the College Operational Governance MS Team.

While the news cycle continues to shift daily, I encourage you to take care of yourselves and each other. Here’s what we know and steps to take if you or someone you know is impacted:

  • CC will work with impacted community members to meet legal and academic requirements while continuing to provide housing, counseling, and other support through systems already in place and new ones that may come.
  • For students on an F-1 or J-1 visa who are not able to return to CC by the start of Block 1, please reach out to International Student & Scholars Services (ISSS) to discuss your immigration status.
  • For students on an F-1 or J-1 visa who are not able to return to CC by the start of Block 1, please reach out to International Student & Scholars Services (ISSS) to discuss your immigration status.
  • If you are planning international, college-sponsored travel, please follow our standard protocols for risk assessment through Global Education. If you have concerns about your planned travel, please reach out to Global Education for advice and resources.
  • If you are faculty or staff member planning personal international travel, we remind you to review the guidance sent by Chief Operating Officer Pedro de Arujo on April 10, and discuss possible disruptions with your direct supervisor.
  • Media interest in the impact of the U.S. administration’s changes on higher education has risen steadily over the past few weeks. All faculty and staff receiving media outreach should redirect the requests to Director of External Relations & Editorial Content Alexa Gromko in the Office of Communications & Marketing.
  • For counseling, confidential or pastoral care, I encourage you to connect with:
    • Counseling Center (students only)
    • Timely Care (students only)
    • Chaplain’s Office
    • Ombuds
    • EAP and UWill (employees only)
  • General questions can be directed to our Office of Institutional Equity & Belonging at belonging@coloradocollege.edu.

We will continue to monitor the evolving situations in an effort to share actionable updates as needed. If you haven’t already, please be sure to look for opportunities to connect with community and important resources via the Belonging@CC Teams Channel.

In solidarity,

Rosalie Rodriquez
