What Is a “Longitudinal Study”?

It is a controlled study that monitors a group of people, called a cohort, over a specified duration. The purpose of Al‑Anon’s longitudinal study is to determine and document the impact regular participation in Al‑Anon has on its members over a five‑year period.

In September 2022, participants were sent the “Year One” survey, with roughly 50 percent completing it. To ensure a high level of data integrity, only those who completed “Year One” will be sent the “Year Two” survey.

Delegates and other trusted servants will meet in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA, April 20‑23, 2023, for Al‑Anon’s 63^rd Annual World Service Conference. Trusted servants enjoy receiving cards from members and groups in their Area while they are at the Conference.

The World Service Office (WSO) is open for tours. Come get an overview of the day‑to‑day business of the organization and, most notably, a peek into the WSO Archives and its vast collection of Al‑Anon Family Groups’ records and keepsakes. Led by Staff, tours are a great opportunity to learn more about the role of the WSO as the clearinghouse for the fellowship.

Invite the WSO to Your Area Events!

World Service Office (WSO) Volunteers and Staff are happy to attend your Area Assemblies, conventions, or other fellowship events, in person or virtually! Staff and Volunteers can conduct workshops, share personal Al‑Anon stories, and/or share on topics including Conference Approved Literature, Group Services, Alateen, and International or WSO programs.

Ask your Delegate or Area Chair for details. Please be aware that a request for in‑person attendance requires six months’ notice.

The Forum Needs Your Sharings about Our Three Legacies!

Please consider writing about one of the Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, or Twelve Concepts of Service, as your World Service Office receives very few sharings about them. Submissions should range from about 200 to 400 words.
