A Place For Democratic Officials In Crypto |
|
|
Last week's crypto market structure hearing drama was just the latest in escalating partisan tensions. In my opinion, the issue is NOT that the majority of Democratic officials are anti-crypto. The friction point is that many Democrats in Washington need to see a place for themselves in the crypto paradigm. These access points should align with Democratic principles: Economic empowerment, small business tech infrastructure, access to capital for entrepreneurs, future workforce development, financial education, risk mitigation and other fundamentals. However, a place for Democratic officials in Web3 and DeFi would require greater support of crypto's established, vibrant, inclusive ecosystem by both big-crypto and policymakers. Crypto's diverse leaders, executives, founders, developers, consumers are fueling growth, but their contributions to foster bipartisanship are largely eclipsed. A reversal of this trend would go a long way towards alleviating partisan tensions in crypto policymaking and rulemaking as Congress deliberates.
