Governor Sherrill Signs Historic Legislation Making New Jersey First State to Enact Voting Rights Reform Following Supreme Court Decision

 

TRENTON – Today, the Sherrill Caldwell Administration signed the following bills into law: 

ACS for A-1715/SCS for S-282 (Reynolds-Jackson/Turner, Cryan, Scutari) - Establishes "John R. Lewis Voter Empowerment Act of New Jersey." With the signing of this bill, New Jersey becomes the first state to enact voting rights reform following the United States Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana v. Callais. 

Additionally, the Sherrill Caldwell Administration signed:

S-4406/A-5310 (McKnight, Diegnan/Pintor Marin, Lopez, Quijano) - Clarifies sentencing under certain circumstances.
