Oklahoma is Great!
by Franci Hart
The rapid running scale that opens our state song, “Oklahoma,” is probably the most thrilling musical introduction in musical theater. And it perfectly captures my excitement and appreciation for my state.
Oklahoma is like no other place. It has a diverse topography and an even more diverse population. This brings a richness to our state that few others can emulate. I am proud of the fact that two great-grandfathers made the runs of ‘89 and ’93 and that my grandchildren and the fifth generation to be born in our great state.
But no place is perfect. And Oklahoma certainly has its share of problems. That is why Rotary means so much to me. As community leaders we gather weekly to learn about issues facing our community, nation and world. As fellow Rotarians, we work together to resolve many of these issues either through contributions or hands-on-work. READ MORE

Sadly, there has been no shortage of tragic news related to extreme hardship for people in disaster areas. From ongoing refugee tragedies related to conflict in Ukraine and Syria to natural disasters of drought, flooding and earthquakes in Somalia, Pakistan and Turkey. Club 29, through the Rotary Club 29 Foundation, consistently strives to impact lives in these disaster areas
Through our Club’s partnership with ShelterBox as a Gold HERO club, we are participating in relief efforts in each of these areas, as well as many others. Rotary International Announces 2023-2024 Theme
Rotary International President-elect R. Gordon R. McInally called for members to capture the world's attention and lead the way toward possibilities far beyond our current expectations. McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, West Lothian, Scotland, revealed the 2023-24 presidential theme, Create Hope in the World, during the Rotary International Assembly in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 9 January. He urged members to promote peace in troubled nations, help those affected by conflict, and maintain the momentum of initiatives begun by past leaders. "The goal is to restore hope — to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and, in turn, to help us achieve lasting change for ourselves," McInally said at Rotary's annual training event for incoming district governors.
