Dear Senior Leadership Council,

After a prayerful process of evaluating many qualified candidates and much discernment, I am pleased to share that Phil Alfrey will transition from his current role as senior regional director for Young Life Military/Club Beyond, to his new role of vice president of Young Life Military/Club Beyond, beginning August 1, 2026.

Phil’s relationship with Club Beyond began nearly three decades ago, when God used a summer internship in Ansbach, Germany, to first stir in him a lifelong calling to serve military-connected teens. Since that formative summer in 1998, Phil has devoted 28 years of leadership to Young Life, with 24 years specifically to Club Beyond, serving in roles that span the full breadth of our ministry — from intern to community-level staff, to international leadership, and ultimately to his current role for the last four years. 

His career has taken Phil and his family to Tennessee, to Germany (three times), and in 2017 to headquarters in Colorado Springs, where he stepped into national leadership. Throughout, Phil has moved into positions of increasing responsibility and influence. Having worked alongside our Young Life Military headquarters staff for years, Phil already has deep, trusted relationships with the team he will lead as vice president of Young Life Military/Club Beyond.

A family man of deep faith, having a heart for the lost, and specifically military teens, Phil is an incredible, trusted leader. We look forward to the ways the Lord will continue to work in and through this ministry under his leadership.”

Phil and his wife, Tiara, and their three daughters make their home in Colorado Springs. Together, Phil and Tiara continue to invest in young people through their volunteer work with the student ministry at Woodmen Valley Chapel, where they have walked alongside the same group of students for several years. Their lives reflect the relational, Christ-centered ministry that defines Young Life Military/Club Beyond.
