Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost
Dear Students,
Congratulations on your graduation from The University of Texas at Austin! Graduation is the capstone event in your academic journey, and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2024’s achievements at upcoming ceremonies.
The University strives to provide an amazing environment for everyone who will be attending the graduation ceremonies and convocations. Please note that students need tickets to participate in the University-wide ceremony, and guests need tickets to attend some of the college and school convocations. Please consult the Commencement website for more information about tickets.
The following event policies apply to all our graduation ceremonies and convocations:
  • A clear bag policy is in effect for all ceremonies to expedite venue entry. Please share this requirement with your guests so they come prepared.

  • Each venue will have a security check-in area similar to game-day admission. Prohibited items — including banners, flags, signs, and umbrellas — are listed on the Commencement website and will not be permitted inside venues.

  • Speech, expression, or assembly that disrupts or interferes with any aspect of the ceremonies is not permitted. This celebration belongs to all graduates and their guests. Heckling speakers, making noise that prevents others from hearing the event presentation, or otherwise interfering with the ceremonies’ planned events will result in removal from the venue.

  • Attendees and graduates will not be permitted to block entrances, exits, or pathways in or around campus or in individual venues.

  • Demonstrations outside venues must not cause disruption to graduation ceremonies or block entrances, exits, or pathways on campus.

  • Unauthorized entrance to ceremony venues or to restricted areas is prohibited.

  • The use of tobacco and vapes is prohibited on campus and in all graduation and convocation venues.

  • Attendees may not bring alcohol to ceremonies.
We hope these guidelines are helpful as you prepare for the pending celebrations over the next few days. We encourage you to follow them. If you don’t, and are removed from the event, for violating these guidelines, your transcript and diploma will be subject to a student conduct hold while you complete the student conduct process.
Thank you in advance for your support and help in fostering a positive and celebratory environment for all graduating Longhorns.
Sincerely,
SHARON L. WOOD |  Executive Vice President and Provost
