The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences invites you to participate in America 250 at YSU: a year-long celebration of the 250th anniversary of American Independence. Over the 2026 calendar year, we will host a variety of programs and special events highlighting the many ways YSU and the people of the Mahoning Valley have shaped American life.

Ideas for engagement:

- Share existing plans for experiences that relate to America 250 themes
- Ask your college to contribute to our YSU America 250 time capsule
- Propose an America 250-themed course or student travel opportunity
- Share information about change-making faculty, staff, students and alums to celebrate on our webpage (coming soon)
- Arrange book displays in your suites or our campus libraries, museums and archives
- Plan a lecture, roundtable or author talk
- Host a concert, art show, literary or film event
