The Privilege of a Lifetime: A Final Letter to the SYA Community

Dear SYA Alumni, Parents, Faculty, Staff, Trustees, Host Families, and Friends,
As I sit in my office during these final weeks as President of School Year Abroad, I find myself surrounded by boxes, photographs, books, and mementos accumulated over a decade of service. Each item evokes a memory. A student presentation. A campus visit. A conversation with an alum decades after their year abroad. A faculty gathering. A celebration. A challenge overcome together.
As I pack up this office, I am also packing away countless SYA moments.
The truth is that no office, no photograph, and no keepsake could ever fully capture what these years have meant to me.
