University of North Florida Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Karen Patterson is pleased to announce the following organizational changes:

Dr. Josh Gellers as Dean of Professional and Lifelong Learning

Dr. Josh Gellers
Gellers, who joined UNF in 2014, is a professor of political science and public administration, director of the Digital Humanities Institute and the University’s first Faculty Fellow for Artificial Intelligence for the 2025-26 academic year. As dean of Professional and Lifelong Learning (PLL), he will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for UNF's non-credit, certificate and alternative credential programs. He will be responsible for advancing professional education, workforce development and lifelong learning initiatives that serve adult learners, working professionals and community members.

Gellers brings scholarly excellence, innovative thinking and a deep commitment to community engagement, making him an ideal leader for PLL. His vision for expanding access to high‑quality learning opportunities, strengthening workforce partnerships and advancing UNF’s role in emerging fields like artificial intelligence gives tremendous confidence in his ability to elevate PLL and broaden its impact across the region.

Dr. Gary Giamartino as Interim Dean of the Coggin College of Business

Dr. Gary Giamartino
Giamartino is recognized as a global leader in business education, with experience in both academic and professional industries. He has worked as a private business consultant for the last 10 years. Prior, he was dean and professor of management and leadership at the School of Business at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As interim dean, he will be responsible for the organization, administration and continuous improvement of the college and the success of its students.

Giamartino brings a blend of strong academic leadership and successful practical business experience, making him uniquely suited to guide the Coggin College of Business. He holds a strong track record of strengthening programs, building industry partnerships and leading institutions through periods of change that make him best suited to prepare a glidepath for the next dean.

Dr. Jennifer Kane as Associate Provost for Teaching and Learning

Dr. Jennifer Kane
Kane, who joined UNF in 2001, is associate dean of the Silverfield College of Education and Human Services (SCOEHS), professor of sport management and has extensive experience in curriculum, assessment and program development. She previously served as interim dean of SCOEHS. In her new role, she will lead initiatives that enhance instructional quality, promote evidence-based pedagogical and curricular innovation, support student success and strengthen the academic experience across all colleges and programs.

Kane has a strong understanding of evidence-based pedagogy, assessment practices and emerging trends in higher education that positions her to provide thoughtful, strategic leadership. She has successfully served the University in numerous leadership roles throughout her career and will be highly effective in advancing UNF’s excellence in teaching, learning and faculty development.
