The Aggie Band made history this Spring by selecting the first ever female Head Drum Major, as well as the first female Combined Band CO. Both of these young ladies are awesome, exhibiting strong leadership skills, great military bearing, excellent critical thinking skills and are well respected by their peers, as well as the Directors. We should all look forward to watching them lead our Band this Fall. Below are pictures of the 2025-2026 Drum Majors, Bugle Rank and the Combined Band, Battery and Company staffs. Also, attached lists the command teams, their hometowns and what they are studying. The FTAB is in great hands!
The TABA did a mailer in November to all folks on the mailing list who were not current members of the TABA and/or had not donated in the last five years or more. Thanks to your generous donations, almost $80K were received between November 2024 and January 2025. That brought our bank balance up to over $98K. Thanks you so much for your support of the TABA and the Cadets. I would encourage you to keep your membership current, join if you haven’t, to consider a special gift if you are so inclined.

At the April 22 Board of Directors meeting, the Board unanimously approved funding for our thirteenth TABA Sul Ross $25K Endowed Scholarship and named it in honor of Dr. Tim Rhea and his excellent leadership over the last 30 years. The scholarship has been funded and will be awarded to a deserving Band member for the Fall semester. The Directors will select the recipient from recommendations from the chain of command, as well as their personal experiences with the candidates. Scholarships are a major mission of the TABA, with a goal of establishing a least one each year. We encourage everyone to help us keep this initiative moving forward.

The TABA voted to have a TABA ad in The Guidon in each of their four issues each calendar year. Our third ad will be in the upcoming July issue. We have received positive feedback on the ads and hope it encourages former members and friends of the Band to contribute to our efforts to support and ease the financial burden on the cadets wherever possible.

After the BoD meeting, we hosted the Senior dinner, with 76 (whoop!) Dying Elephants in attendance. They were inducted into TABA and received a Texas Aggie Band key fob with a bugle banner and their class year on it. This is a very cool gift that Bruce Bockhorn '74 and his wife Carobeth donate each year.

The BoD established a nominating committee to recommend new officers and board members, they have done an excellent job so far. There will be presented for approval at our biennial business meeting and mini-reunion on the evening of November 21st (Rally to the Guidons and the football game versus Samford will be on Saturday, November 22nd). Stay tuned for more details as the event gets closer.
