CONGRESS' DASH TO PASS FY23 FUNDING
Congress is back from break last week with only a few weeks left in 2022 to pass FY23 funding bills before the current December 16 deadline. Democrat and Repulican leadership have yet to agree on topline budget numbers, which puts Congress significantly behind. Given the short timeline, it's possible that Congress needs to pass another short-term funding fix to keep the government open into 2023. The Biden administration has also quietly begun preparing for Congress to pass a one-year stopgap funding bill, a potential last resort measure.
