In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, our third graders shared their beautiful dreams for a better world: from world peace, helping their families, caring for the earth, and bringing peace to Eretz Yisrael. Their hopes remind us that even the smallest voices can inspire big change. May we all be inspired to dream and act with kindness, just as our AHA students do.
On Tuesday, lower school students learned conversational Hebrew with our amazing shlichim, but it was a Hebrew Language Day unlike any other!
As the Israeli Shlichim and Hebrew teachers, we’d like to share a bit about this special day, it coincides with the birthday of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda.
The revival of Hebrew is a remarkable linguistic and cultural achievement. This process transformed Hebrew from being a sacred language used primarily in religious contexts into a vibrant, modern language spoken by millions in daily life. Such a transformation—from a liturgical language without native speakers to a national spoken language—is unparalleled in history. Eliezer Ben-Yehuda's efforts included creating new words, promoting Hebrew in schools, and encouraging families to speak it at home. Thanks to his vision, Hebrew became the living, spoken language of Israel and the Jewish people.

Well, this sure has been a short school week—but one for the history books with all of this snow! Some of our students saw their very first snowflakes and said Shehecheyanu, while others tried snowboarding (or at least a Southern version of it!). Thank you for sharing your precious photos, and continue to enjoy all of the #Sheleg_Down_South!
