Dear Alumni and Friends,
In my experience, it is a misconception that summer for colleges and universities is a time when campuses are quiet and idle. Although we said farewell to our newest graduates only a few weeks ago, our campus is as active as ever. Summer programs began nearly as soon as Commencement ceremonies were over, and these camps will bring participants and their families to CSU for the next several months.
June is also a time on our calendars when we recognize, celebrate and commemorate the diversity of our communities. Last week, a group of CSU students, staff and administrators and I participated in the Pride in the CLE parade. This event is an energized and inspirational start to Pride Month in our city.
And next week for Juneteenth, we will host another in our Courageous Conversations series and Downtown Cleveland will be home to the Cleveland Juneteenth Freedom Fest. I would encourage you to attend, as these are great ways to celebrate African American culture and our newest federal holiday.
There's a lot happening in Cleveland, and the summer has only just begun.
Regards,

With the 2022-23 academic year coming to a close, I find that this is an excellent time for reflection. After we have completed Exam Week, held our end-of-year celebrations and hosted hundreds of guests on campus for our Commencement ceremonies, let's take a moment to pause and recognize our many accomplishments over the past year.

Meet CSU's Newest Class of Alumni
|
At this spring's Commencement Exercises, we welcomed the Class of 2023 into CSU's expansive network of alumni. In addition to ceremonies for our undergraduate, graduate and law students, we added a special ceremony to our Commencement schedule for doctoral students. In all, we conferred more than 2,300 degrees to these deserving students.

CSU's $3 Billion Economic Impact
|
An Economic Impact Study shows that CSU contributed $3 billion to Northeast Ohio in one year, which is equal to supporting one out of every 63 jobs in the region. The study also reported, among other findings, that students receive $6.80 in lifetime earnings for each dollar they invest in their educations. With university operations and alumni earnings, CSU is making substantial contributions to the regional economy.

How to Confront Perfectionism and Embrace Mistakes
|
This month, I share my thoughts on Scott Simon's Scare Your Soul: 7 Powerful Principles to Harness Fear and Lead Your Most Courageous Life. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to learn how to take more risks and try something new without feeling held back by a fear of stumbling along the way.
