UTA research contributed $302 million to U.S. economy

A new report shows that research projects at The University of Texas at Arlington contributed nearly one-third of a billion dollars—$302.1 million, to be exact—to the national economy through 976 vendor contracts and subcontracts between 2018 and 2023.

 

“The phenomenal research coming from UT Arlington faculty and students is not only helping solve problems and improve lives, but it’s also an important economic driver in North Texas and beyond,” says Kate C. Miller, vice president for research and innovation at UTA.

Steps to improve team ethics

Logan Watts, an assistant professor of psychology at UTA, is lead author on a new study exploring ethical decision-making within teams. Dr. Watts and fellow psychology Assistant Professor Michelle Martín-Raugh, along with graduate students Sampoorna Nandi and Rylee Linhardt, interviewed scientists about their experiences and observations with ethical dilemmas within research.

myUTA

Meet MyUTA: Your Maverick life, organized

Launching next month, MyUTA is a new app for easily managing your day-to-day UTA experience! Users will be able to access frequently used tools, such as academic resources, UTA email, campus maps, and parking availability. MyUTA will be hosted at my.uta.edu, which will be the new way to find MyMav. There will be no changes to the MyMav login process.

As of today, Thursday, Oct. 17, the Veo micro-mobility program has added convenient and sustainable travel options for UTA. The service area will also include downtown Arlington. Special discounts will be available through November. More information is available on the Parking and Transportation Services website.

Ready, Set, Register!

Whether you are a faculty member, advisor, staff member, or employee who is also a student, the Maverick advising community wants wants everyone to know that advising and registration season is upon us. The advising community is launching a “Ready, Set, Register” marketing campaign to ensure students are ready to register with these three simple steps that can be addressed now to alleviate stress later.  

  1. Ready. Have you scheduled an appointment with your advisor? Now is the time, so don’t delay! Log in to mymav.uta.edu and click on the Advisors tile to see your assigned advisor. You can then go to uta.edu/student-success/advising to schedule an appointment.
  2. Set. Have you cleared all holds? Log in to mymav.uta.edu to address any holds that are listed on your student account. Again, don’t wait until the last minute. Address your holds today.
  3. Register. After you meet with your advisor and clear any holds on your account, you are ready to register for spring and summer classes beginning Nov. 4.

 
Please help us remind students of these three easy steps so they are ready and cleared for registration beginning Monday, Nov. 4. For more information about advising, visit uta.edu/advising.

A new look for Mav IDs

New employees and students who pick up a Mav ID will receive the newly redesigned Mav ID, which was updated to better align with UTA branding guidelines. If you already have an existing Mav ID, there is no need to get a new one, as your current card will continue to function. The new design is only available to those picking up an ID for the first time or to those without a working Mav ID.

Vaccination Clinic for employees, covered dependents, spouses, and retirees

Employee vaccination clinic

Maverick Wellness will be hosting a vaccination clinic for employees, dependents, and retirees to receive their annual flu and COVID vaccinations. The clinic will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and Wednesday, Oct. 23, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Room 112 of Trinity Hall. For more details and to register, visit the UTA Wellness website. There are 360 slots available.

Rural Health Conference

The College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Center for Rural Health and Nursing (CRHN) will host the third Annual Rural Health Conference Wednesday, Oct. 23, and Thursday, Oct. 24, on campus. This year’s event focuses on improving access to care and rural health outcomes.
