Mavericks gather for Thanksgiving Dinner tradition
|
Last week, students, faculty, and staff came together to share a meal and an evening of gratitude with over 700 of their fellow Mavericks during the annual campuswide Thanksgiving Dinner.

Take care of remaining to-dos before the spring semester begins at the Student Solutions Hub Saturday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the University Administration Building. Visit this one-stop shop to complete advising and registration, review your student account, evaluate payment plan options, discuss financial aid information, and more!

Spring registration is happening now. Log in to MyUTA to make sure you have:
- confirmed spring courses with your advisor,

cleared any registration-preventing holds, and
- checked for your date to begin enrolling.

UTA Libraries will offer extended hours through Dec. 11 to accommodate students during finals week. The library will be open:
- Dec. 3, 7 a.m. begins 24-hour service
- Dec. 4-10, open 24 hours
- Dec. 11, end 24-hour service at 11 p.m.

| UTA's women's basketball team will take on the University of Houston tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6:30 p.m. at College Park Center. In honor of National Cookie Day, the first 100 students to arrive at the Corral at game time will receive a free cookie.

| Mavs head to the first round of the NCAA Tournament

The UTA volleyball team, the Western Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champion, will face the University of Southern California Trojans in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Gregory Gymnasium in Austin at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Learn more at utamavs.com.

| The ABCs of student employment

To gain foundational knowledge on how to succeed at UTA's various student employment positions, attend a comprehensive workshop Monday, Dec. 9, 2-3 p.m. at the Career Development Center. By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the tools necessary to feel assured in applying for student employment positions on campus.

National health organization recognizes a UTA student
|
UTA senior Ken Perry is the recipient of two research awards from the American Physiological Society for his research on a connection between high-fat meals and cardiovascular health.

MavGrad Celebration, a fun and family-friendly event, is planned for Thursday, Dec. 12, 6-8 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Ballroom of the University Center. UTA’s graduating students will celebrate with their peers, friends, and family. This free event will feature food, drinks, live music, photo opportunities, and festive activities.

UTA in DC, scheduled for March 9-13, 2025, is a unique leadership experience designed to immerse students in civic and government-related activities in the nation's capital. Honors College students Caroline King, Margaret Kouassi, Jordan Booth, and Daniela Loya-Rivera recently attended the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. Kouassi, a public relations major, won the first place Sloane Prize in Undergraduate Research with her research on social media efficiency in health care.

The Genspiration Prize recognizes exceptional participants in the Student Showcase, which is hosted by the National Academy of Inventors and allows students to present their innovations to inventors, university leaders, industry leaders, and inventive institutions.
