| 🎉 Happy National Planning Month!
Did you know the City of Georgetown has had a Planning Department since the 1960s when City Council adopted its first zoning ordinance?
Today, the department has a staff of 20 who administer the processes by which projects are considered and approved to ensure they meet the vision for the City and protect current and future residents.
Planners are responsible for: 📝 managing development cases as they move through the City process, 🧑💼guiding applicants and
🖊️ coordinating staff responses.
Planners also review permit requests for compliance with applicable local and state regulations. Department staff collect data on what has and is happening in the City to guide decision makers and help plan for the future through development of standards, regulations, and other planning documents which are submitted for approval to City Council.
