Cheer on the Movin’ Mavs and Lady Movin’ Mavs as they kick off their 2024-25 seasons with the UTA Wheelchair Basketball Fall Classic tournament at College Park Center tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. Enjoy free admission and fun giveaways as you watch our teams compete against colleges from across the nation.

Get ready for a spooktacular evening on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at College Park Center. The UTA women’s basketball team will take on the University of North Texas at Dallas in a free exhibition game. Enjoy Halloween fun, including a trunk-or-treat, a costume contest, a balloon artist, a bounce house, and so much more.

The UTA Fraternity and Sorority community invites all faculty, staff, their families, and Arlington community members to celebrate fall at the Great Pumpkin Carnival, set for Wednesday, Oct. 30, 6-8 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Ballroom of the University Center. There will be children's games, inflatables, prizes, trackless train rides, popcorn, candy, and more.

First-Generation Celebration

The Office of Transition Programs and Services is thrilled to host the First-Generation Celebration Monday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the sixth floor of the UTA Central Library. To represent the five generations within the workforce, the event will feature a panel of first-generation faculty and staff volunteers. UTA’s Department of Theatre Arts and Dance presents On the Town, music by Leonard Bernstein, book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, based on an idea by Jerome Robbins. The classic musical comedy follows the adventures of three American sailors on a 24-hour shore leave in New York City during World War II, leading to a whirlwind of romance, comedy, and dance as they explore the city’s iconic landmarks. The show runs for six performances in UTA’s Mainstage Theatre from Nov. 6-9 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances on Nov. 9-10 at 2 p.m. Purchase tickets.

Memorias Eternas: An Exhibit of Remembrance celebrates the lives of those who have passed by showcasing altares (altars) and ofrendas (offerings) adorned with flowers, photographs, candles, and personal memories. The exhibit will run Oct. 28-Nov. 4 at the University Center Gallery.

The UTA volleyball team continued its first-place dominance with its fourth consecutive sweep, this time over the Utah Tech Trailblazers. The team remains unbeaten in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play. The Mavericks have now rattled off nine consecutive wins in their 13th sweep of the season. Plan to support UTA volleyball at the WAC Tournament at College Park Center Nov. 21-23.

Launching next month, MyUTA is a one-stop destination for your UTA experience! Users can access frequently used tools, such as academic resources, UTA email, campus maps, and parking availability. MyUTA will be hosted at my.uta.edu, which will be the new way to find MyMav. There will be no changes to the MyMav login process.

Preparing UTA for the new EPA Methylene Chloride Rule
|
The UTA Office of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) will be preparing campus stakeholders for compliance with the new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule restricting the use of methylene chloride, also known as dichloromethane. The office’s efforts are focused on collaborating with impacted stakeholders to support UTA’s research use of dichloromethane while ensuring strict monitoring. EH&S will commence outreach to research laboratories and operational units currently identified as using methylene chloride to discuss how to achieve the strict monitoring and exposure requirements from EPA.
