Sac State celebrates record number of graduates during Commencement
More than 9,500 newly minted Sacramento State alumni crossed the stage at Golden 1 Center during this weekend's Commencement exercises, the culmination of one journey and the beginning of another.
The ceremonies also marked the curtain call for President Robert S. Nelsen, who will retire in July after an eight-year tenure that saw the graduation of 65,000 students.
“There’s been many times where I (wanted) to give up, but with the help of my family, my friends, (and) professors, they kind of (helped) me push through all of this, and now that I’m here, it feels great,” said Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate Yutthachat Thao. “This is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever felt.”
