The Patrick J. Leahy Public Policy Forum
Leahy’s Legacy
with Chris Graff, Vermont Journalist, and
Luke Albee, Former Chief of Staff to Senator Leahy

Our newly titled The Patrick J. Leahy Public Policy Forum is dedicated this term to the legacy of Senator Leahy and what effects this had on our democracy. Patrick J. Leahy was United States Senator from Vermont from 1975 to 2023, a career that put him front and center in American history for almost fifty years. This Fall's series invites historians, politicians, and those who know Leahy best to discuss and analyze the key policies that have impacted history, our democracy and the future of the United States.
Luke Albee, described as “the Dean of Senate Chiefs of Staff” by Politico, has served as Chief of Staff to Senators Mark Warner (2009-15) and Patrick Leahy (1993-2004), directing a broad array of legislative, policy, political and communications activities for both Members. He has a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics, and is a graduate of the University of Vermont.
Chris Graff graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in American history. In 1978 Graff joined the staff of The Associated Press as a reporter in the Vermont bureau, located in Montpelier. Two years later he was placed in charge of the bureau, a post he held until 2006. In his years with the AP Graff covered the critical stories as the state transformed itself from a rural, Republican outpost into the state of Howard Dean, Jim Jeffords, Pat Leahy and Bernie Sanders.
