Scrappy is bringing main character energy to this special event from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the Library Mall. The event will feature a live DJ, Kona Ice and fellow local mascot friends. Come hang out and take selfies with the guest of honor and enjoy a party full of UNT spirit. 
Did you know our beloved Eagle mascot has been the Mean Green’s biggest fan for decades? The student body chose an eagle as the official university mascot in 1922 for its keen eye, strength, independence and loyalty

   AWARD APPLICATIONS   
Applications for the prestigious UNT Ring Award are now open! The Student Alumni Ambassadors program, on behalf of the UNT Alumni Association, gifts one ring per semester to a current student who embodies the spirit and traditions of UNT. This year, two rings will be awarded! Award applications are due by 11:59 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and interviews will take place the following week. Learn more about the UNT Ring Award and apply today

If you're ready to buy your class ring, you can customize and purchase it in person, by virtual appointment or in the online store during UNT Ring Days. To participate in the Ring Ceremony and Eagle Ring Dive on Friday, Dec. 5, your ring must be ordered and paid for in full by Thursday, Oct. 16.

The third annual University Research Day is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in the University Union. Sponsored by the Division of Research and Innovation, this free event provides student and faculty researchers a chance to showcase their work and engage with the campus community.
Event highlights include: 
  • Poster presentations: Last year, more than 250 students presented their research across disciplines, providing opportunities for discussion and feedback.
  • Workshops and panels: Designed to provide practical knowledge, sessions include topics such as interdisciplinary research and the role of AI in research.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, stop by the Union South Lawn to learn about campus safety, programs and services at the annual UNT Police Department Safety Fair — it’s free!
Co-hosted with Emergency Management, the event includes groups from around campus promoting UNT safety. With booths, activities and expert advice, you'll get tips and learn about resources to stay ready and aware.

   STUDY ABROAD FAIR    
If you're considering studying abroad, don’t miss the Study Abroad  Fair  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, on the Library Mall. Hear from study abroad advisors, alumni ambassadors, UNT faculty leaders, affiliate program partners, and Financial Aid office and Student Money Management Center reps to learn how to research, plan for and fund a study abroad experience.
With more than 800 programs in 90 different countries, students can find international opportunities that advance their personal and professional goals. Hear one student's travel abroad experience, a chemistry major who studied in Thailand, on the latest Happy Friday, North Texas! podcast episode.

   FINE ARTS SERIES    
The UNT Fine Arts Series will host Filipino American author Simon Jimenez for a public talk at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the Union Lyceum.
Jimenez, author of The Vanished Birds and The Spear Cuts Through Water, will share insights into his writing process and the inspirations behind his award-winning work. A book signing will follow the discussion.
Tickets are free for all UNT students, $5 for one additional student guest, and $10 for the public.

UNT defeated South Alabama 36-22 at DATCU Stadium last weekend! UNT is now 5-0 for the first time since 1959 and will have a chance to go 6-0 at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, against South Florida. So claim your tickets, pack DATCU Stadium and get ready to cheer on the Mean Green! 
This is a blackout game, so be sure to wear your all black UNT gear!
