Tickets to the televised game 

UTA's men's basketball team will take on Tarleton State University in a WAC game that will air nationally on ESPNU. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22. Come and be a part of history, as UTA aims to set a new attendance record for College Park Center. As North Texas prepares to welcome thousands of soccer enthusiasts for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, flying taxis have become a possibility to whisk fans around Arlington and the region. Jinzhu Yu, an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, has been tasked with identifying the best locations for vertiports, specialized hubs for aircraft that take off and land vertically.

Maverick Momentum 

The 2025 Maverick Momentum mentorship program, a partnership between the Staff Advisory Committee and the Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement, successfully launched in January with 18 enthusiastic mentee and mentor parings. This six-month program consists of one-on-one mentoring sessions guided by a monthly roadmap of resources and skill-development topics. Learn more here.

Black History Month

UTA is commemorating Black History Month throughout February with a series of events, including live music, film screenings, an open mic night, and much more. Black History Month, which dates back to 1915, honors the contributions of Black Americans to U.S. culture and history.

Tartan design contest 

If you know students who have a passion for design and an eye for fashion, encourage them to submit a commemorative tartan design to the Tartan Design Competition. The winning designer will receive a $1,000 scholarship and have their design featured on University merchandise sold in the UTA Bookstore.

All full-time UTA faculty and staff now have access to Microsoft’s Clipchamp. Clipchamp allows users of all skill levels to create, edit, and share high-quality videos. Clipchamp is available for use in web browsers and on iOS.

UTA employees, UTA students, and Arlington residents ages 18 and older are invited to participate in an online survey that will help researchers gauge public perceptions and concerns about the use of a fully autonomous rideshare transportation service in Arlington.
