Upcoming Banner Milestones for Fall 2026 Students |
The timely update provided below is for faculty and staff as a part of Encompass.
In October, several Banner milestones will go live and begin to shape the experience for incoming students.
From claiming WebIDs to beginning financial aid to securing housing, our Fall 2026 admits will be the first students to engage with our new system. While faculty and staff don’t need to take action, here’s what will be happening for incoming students behind the scenes.
Connecting Slate to Banner | October 1 |
In August, the University launched Slate, our new admission and enrollment platform that modernized the application process for prospective students.
Beginning October 1, application data from Slate will begin flowing directly into Banner.
For the first time, student data will function within the new Banner system—allowing new admits to:
-
Claim their UM WebIDs and emails
- Apply for scholarships
- Apply for housing
Phase 1 of Financial Aid in Banner | Begins October 13 |
| During the first phase of Financial Aid activity:
-
FAFSA data will begin loading into Banner, allowing UM to help students complete eligibility requirements early
- Cost of Attendance information will be posted
- Freshman Scholarship Application for competitive awards will open by November
- Academic Merit Scholarship offers will begin in November
This launch establishes the foundation for the Fall 2026 admit cycle. More capabilities, like federal aid packaging and electronic award letters, will follow in spring 2026.
Banner Financial Aid is how students receive support to attend Ole Miss. This phase ensures admitted students can apply for scholarships, housing, and eventually, receive financial aid packages—all within the new Banner system.
You can learn more about Banner components of Financial Aid here.

| Housing Application Go-Live | October 15
For Fall 2026 admits, the housing application will open in the Student Housing Portal on October 15.
Housing registration is a key moment in the new admit cycle, and we prioritize this experience for incoming students.
