APPROPRIATIONS UPDATE
Senate leaders are still working to secure unanimous consent to begin debate on a fiscal 2026 minibus package that currently includes Military Construction-VA, Agriculture-FDA, and Commerce-Justice-Science. If consent isn’t reached, the Senate may proceed with Military Construction alone. Meanwhile, Senate appropriators plan to mark up the two largest spending bills—Defense and Labor-HHS-Education—on Thursday, which would bring their total to eight out of twelve bills approved.
Over in the House, appropriators have already advanced nine bills, with Commerce-Justice-Science, Financial Services and Labor-HHS-Education still pending.
Keep an eye out for our DC Digest on Friday, where we'll provide a more comprehensive update on the current appropriations state-of-play, as the Senate joins the House in their August recess, and how it impacts Duke.
