Plus: New digester turns campus food waste into fertilizer, electricity
'Cluster hire' of 17 new faculty members to boost support for Latinx students |
Sacramento State will hire 17 new faculty members for fall 2025 who have demonstrated success in serving Latinx students through research, teaching and mentoring. The "cluster hire" is part of the University's work to increase faculty diversity and support students.
With 37% of Sac State students identifying as Latinx compared to only 9% of faculty, the initiative aims to help the University's teaching ranks better reflect and support the student body.
“Cluster hiring is a powerful strategy for transforming our University's landscape and truly serving our diverse student population,” Sac State President Luke Wood said. “These new faculty members will not only enhance our research and teaching, but also will create a more inclusive environment where all students can thrive and see themselves represented in positions of academic leadership."
