UTA sees enrollment growth for fall 2024

In recently released fall 2024 preliminary enrollment statistics, UTA’s total enrollment is 41,613, representing an increase from fall 2023. UTA’s undergraduate growth continued with a 3% increase to 29,271. Read University leaders' thoughts on the increase.

Developing a drinking water evaluation tool

Ricardo Sánchez-Murillo, associate professor of earth and environmental sciences, is leading a federally funded study aimed at improving the ability of water suppliers to ensure drinking water is safe and reliable under extreme weather events.

UTA to lead NASA wildfire grant

Adnan Rajib, assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, was awarded a major NASA grant to develop a new-generation tool that will allow states, counties, and cities to predict how much damage wildfires will cause to freshwater supplies.

Chemists receive national honors

Daniel Armstrong, the Robert A. Welch Distinguished University Chair in Chemistry, and Purnendu “Sandy” Dasgupta, the Hamish Small Chair of Ion Analysis, made The Analytical Scientist magazine’s Power List.

MavsManager Program, UTA Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement

In October, the Office of Talent, Culture, and Engagement is launching the MavsManager Foundations Program for team managers with two to three years of management experience. The three-month leadership development program aims to help leaders rethink teamwork and master leadership through foundational strategies and tools. The application deadline is Monday, Sept. 30. Donation drive

Maverick Pantry is hosting a donation drive now through tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 27, at three locations: outside of the Maverick Pantry, the University Center, and Arlington Hall. Maverick Pantry is in need of pasta, rice, and instant meals.

Happy Campus Safety Awareness Month, Mavericks! A few of UTA's safety resources are listed below.

  • MavAlert keeps the University community informed during campus emergencies by sending text messages to phones, email accounts, and other registered communications devices. Sign up for MavAlerts by adding or updating your phone number through MyMav.
  • Save the UTA Police Department’s phone numbers in your contacts for easy access. In case of an emergency, call 817-272-3003 or dial 911. For non-emergency UTA Police Department assistance, call 817-272-3381.
  • UTA’s deaf community can communicate directly with dispatchers in the UTA Police Department by texting 682-209-7147 or 682-209-6976 or emailing upddispatch@uta.edu.
  • Learn about the free transportation solutions UTA offers, including a late-night security escort service and Mav Mover Shuttles.

Learn how to better serve international students

You are invited to "Core Competencies for Student Affairs Professionals Who Serve International Students," on Friday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Upstairs Lounge of the Maverick Activities Center. Big Idea grant recipient Daniqua Williams will host the workshop, and Nicole Pulliam and Vernon Smith, both professors at Monmouth University, will lead the session. Hot breakfast will be provided. To participate, fill out the interest form.

In honor of LGBTQ History Month, UTA's School of Social Work is excited to host actor, comedian, producer, and LGBTQIA+ icon Joel Kim Booster Wednesday, Oct. 2, 7:30-8:30 p.m at Texas Hall. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. Submit questions for the speaker.

Graduate School Bound is an event series designed to help students explore graduate studies and post-graduate career opportunities. Session one, set for Wednesday, Oct. 16, 12-1 p.m., will focus on how earning a graduate degree can give students a leg up in the job market and increase their earning potential. Please share this with your students who are interested in graduate school at UTA.

State Employee Charitable Campaign

State Employee Charitable Campaign

This week marks the beginning of the State Employee Charitable Campaign at UTA. Until Friday, Oct. 25, you can help provide much-needed support to more than 1,000 participating charities that fund food banks, shelters for survivors of domestic violence and displaced individuals, job training programs targeting veterans, and countless other lifesaving programs. Your donations can improve the lives of many across North Texas and right here at UTA.

Texas Energy Summit

Call for student posters

The Texas Energy Summit invites students to submit a poster to the Malcolm Verdict Memorial Student Poster Competition on topics like sustainable communities, clean energy policy, smart buildings, and more. Registration is free for students, and there is a $1,000 prize for winners.
