Thanks to in-kind donations of tens of thousands of rare books, scientific journals and articles, and reports over the past two years, UTA’s Amphibian and Reptile Diversity Research Center has become one of the largest publicly accessible herpetology libraries in the world.

Jeremy Forsberg, associate vice president for research and innovation, has been named chair of the Costing and Financial Compliance Committee within the Council on Governmental Relations, the national authority on federal policies and regulations affecting U.S. research institutions.

The Division of Faculty Success has named Peggy Semingson as the interim director of the Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence. Joining UTA in 2008, Dr. Semingson currently serves as associate professor of TESOL in the Department of Linguistics and chair of Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

Through Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, each college is accepting applications for Faculty Research Honors. Submit a nomination for Distinguished Record of Research or Creative Activity Award, the Outstanding Research Achievement or Creative Accomplishment Award, and the Academy of Distinguished Scholars.

The completion of repairs to Parking Lot F9 has been delayed due to unexpected weather conditions over winter break, which caused the asphalt plant to temporarily close. Employees can view alternative parking options on the Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) website to help plan their commute. Allot more time in your commute to finding parking during the first two weeks of the semester. Student commuter parking will be impacted in Parking Lot 30. PATS is working diligently to minimize disruptions and will share a new anticipated timeline on its website as soon as possible.

| Come support your Lady Mavericks Saturday, Jan. 11, at College Park Center, as UTA's women's basketball team competes against Southern Utah University. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m., with doors opening at 1 p.m.

This spring, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Service Desk will provide in-person support to faculty and staff at the front desk of Trinity Hall Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
The OIT Service Desk will offer in-person support to students in the Central Library Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. A temporary pop-up location will open for students, with the ability to support employees as well, Jan. 13-24 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Maverick Activities Center.

Nominations are being accepted for the Maverick Performance Excellence Awards. The award is an ongoing peer-to-peer recognition program where employees can nominate a colleague to receive paid time off for exceptional performance.

Global Seal of Biliteracy
|
UTA students who speak a language in addition to English can test their proficiency to receive the Global Seal of Biliteracy, a microcredential that conveys language proficiency. The test is offered in more than 40 languages through the Department of Modern Languages. Email proficiency@uta.edu for more information.
