The (Ocean) Floor Is Lava
Peter Davidson ’16 is the lead author of a new study investigating the age of the Ontong Java Plateau, the largest volcanic structure on the Earth’s surface. Using modern dating methods, Davidson and his co-authors discovered that the plateau is younger and its formation took place over a longer period of time than previously believed. Davidson’s research, conducted as part of his Ph.D., was published in Science Magazine.
