Do you still have any involvement with the PA program/school as an alumna? In what ways? I am very sentimental when it comes to our PA program, so I do my best to stay involved. Whether it's singing the national anthem at program events or serving as a PA program representative on the School of Medicine's Alumni Association Board, I enjoy being able to show students that your time at USC doesn't have to end at graduation. One of my favorite ways to give back is by donating to the PA White Coat Sponsorship. While being able to cover the costs of these white coats is helpful, the personalized messages from the donors to each student also makes a huge impact on them. To know that the community, especially USC SOMC PA alumni, is supporting them is so special.
Where are you currently working? At this time, I am currently working at MUSC Columbia in General and Vascular Surgery. However, I will be starting a new Surgical Oncology PA position working alongside Dr. Ostapoff at Lexington Medical Center in April 2025. I'll also be returning to school part time to get my DScPAS with a focus in Health Systems Administration.
What do you love most about being a PA? I love the flexibility of my job. Because PAs are trained as generalists, it's possible for me to explore all the specialities I'm interested in without having to do additional schooling. So far, I've been able to work in gastroenterology, hepatology, general surgery, and vascular surgery and now moving into surgical oncology.
