The Laker women’s basketball team won the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship March 28, beating California State Dominguez-Hills Toro, 70-58, in Pittsburgh.

The spring University Communicator Network meeting will feature presentations from Jennifer Allard, associate vice president of Marketing and Branding for University Marketing, about the evolution of Grand Valley's brand and members of the CLAS Dean's Office will share how the Voyage will prepare students to pursue their purpose and build their careers.

Takeaways from both presentations are planned for communicators. In addition, Stacie Behler, vice president and chief public affairs and communications officer, will give a quick update on executive orders.

Four student employees from University Communications capably took the reins on a multimedia project to highlight a spring break service learning trip to North Carolina. 

Quincy Williams, internship and undergraduate coordinator for the School of Community Leadership and Development, has led Students Leaving a Mark (SLAM) trips for nearly 20 years. In March, his group traveled to Asheville to help community members recover from Hurricane Helene.

Williams agreed to have Samantha Drougel and Emily Riddle embed with his group to capture interviews, photos and video to document the week-long trip. After the trip, Nathan Coon edited the video and Eliana McGlinchey designed the story in Shorthand. 

Their story is among the top-read stories on GVNext for March and it has been shared on multiple GVSU social media accounts, including President Mantella's.
