Student to perform at UTA Planetarium

Enjoy an evening of food, drinks, and live music by artist Housekeys at the UTA Planetarium on Friday, June 28. The reception will start at 6 p.m. in the Planetarium atrium, with the concert starting at 7 p.m. Tiffiny Costello (aka Housekeys) is a physics major at UTA, a multi-instrumentalist, and composer. Preventing phishing scams

Shirin Nilizadeh and her doctoral students Sayak Saha Roy and Poojitha Thota developed software that prevents artificial intelligence chatbots such as ChatGPT from creating phishing websites—a growing concern as cybercriminals have been utilizing the technology for designing scams.

VR as a form of substance use treatment

A team of researchers that includes Assistant Professor Micki Washburn is working with the Menninger Clinic in Houston to conduct a pilot project in which patients with substance use needs will use virtual reality software as an additional form of treatment.

July 4 holiday

Independence Day holiday 

UTA is closed on July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. To allow additional time with family and friends and so that you may enjoy the holiday weekend, UTA classes will be canceled on Friday, July 5.

Summit highlights value of earning microcredentials

Through microcredentials, such as those offered by Coursera Career Academy, students can brush up on areas they are familiar with or dive into something new to bolster their resumes by completing short training programs. Microcredentialing, skills-based learning, and the role of artificial intelligence in the workplace were the themes of a special conference hosted by UTA, in coordination with The UT System, Coursera, and Lightcast.

Apply for the inSTEM program

Undergraduate students in science, technology, or math fields have until Friday, Aug. 9, to apply for the inSTEM program, a unique initiative that blends mentorship, hands-on projects, and exposure to research and industry best practices. To apply, students must be enrolled full time in STEM with a grade point average of 2.8 or above.

Global Seal of Bilteracy

Global Seal of Biliteracy

UTA students who speak a language in addition to English can take a test to potentially earn the Global Seal of Biliteracy certificate, a microcredential that conveys language proficiency. The test is offered in more than 40 languages through the Department of Modern Languages. Email proficiency@uta.edu for more information.
