Work in “Additional Areas” began in 1994 and continues to the present. These “Additional Areas” are located on several regions where the Church of the Nazarene has works. These areas tend to be resistant to the gospel, which means that the open proclamation of the gospel can be restricted, requiring creative approaches for ministry and missions. They may also be areas where the Church of the Nazarene is officially registered with the government but whose political, social, or religious environment may not always be conducive to Christian outreach and church development. Often, we connect specific languages with specific countries on which we are focused. However, in this instance, the language that matters most is the language of grace and love, sharing hope in Christ. Regardless of the political, economic, social, or religious circumstances, the Church of the Nazarene is present to demonstrate the unconditional love of God to persons of all ages living in every kind of human conditions.

Pray for the people and places that you hear or read about in the news but are unfamiliar with. There may be Nazarenes there who need your prayers.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit would keep you sensitive to the many participants in his plans for "Additional Areas"—those who send and those who receive our sent ones as bearers of his Good News.

Praise the Lord that he is already behind closed doors, bringing together those who can share his love in difficult contexts.
- Praise God for the faithful workers who must discretely share their faith and extend Christ’s love in their communities.

In the news, we often hear or read of political, economic, social, or religious unrest in countries that are not highlighted by name in NMI Central. These "Additional Areas" nonetheless need our prayers. In many of them, we have workers who are seeking to share the Good News of Jesus and are endeavoring to show his love to those who are caught up in the storylines we are hearing and reading about.
When we pray for those who live and serve in these "Additional Areas," it is good for us to remember that there are different facets and participants in that work.

There are those who have been sent to serve, whom we cannot name for security reasons;
- There are the sending churches that have nurtured the call in these sent ones and who have sacrificed financially to support them;
- There are the receiving churches or communities whom these sent ones join in the delicate and often difficult work of sharing the Good News of Jesus and

There are those who have not yet heard the Good News or experienced the transformation that can potentially change the political, economic, social, and religious landscape of their country.

Make prayer a part of your news intake each day as you hear and read stories from countries unfamiliar to you. There may be Nazarenes there, serving in communities that need your prayers.
