Significant Growth From Inaugural 2023 Conference, Bringing More Than 800 Attendees to Dundalk, Co. Louth, for Workshops, Panel Discussions, Performance Showcases & Networking

| DUNDALK, Co. Louth (Jan. 26, 2024) — Folk, traditional, Celtic, alternative, and Americana artists flocked to Dundalk, Co. Louth, last week for Your Roots Are Showing 2024, Ireland’s music industry conference.
The event drew artists, industry insiders and talent bookers from all over the globe, including Australia, Mexico, the U.S., and more, in addition to Irish locals. More than 60 industry leader speakers and panelists shared insider tips and knowledge during 40+ workshops and panel discussions, while more than 100 artists performed on the conference’s four showcase stages.
Event organizer and Your Roots Are Showing co-founder Brendan McCreanor, a traditional Irish musician himself, says the conference helps artists make connections and drum up work, without the overwhelming costs for Irish artists to travel to places like the U.S. for similar opportunities. "This conference is so important. It gives people a chance to get in front of managers, agents, DJs, and people who can make things happen in this industry. It's amazing.”
Co-founder Charlene Sloan adds, “The Your Roots Are Showing Folk Conference is a catalyst for innovation in folk music, fostering connections that resonate across the music industry.”
Notable participants included renowned folk legend Peggy Seeger, Sandy Kelly, Kari Estrin, Dr. Dorothy Conaghan, Patrick Bergin, Ben Mandelson, Pete Fisher, John Cooke, Enda Scahill, Barry Stapleton and more.
Last year’s inaugural conference was held in Monaghan, proving so successful that a larger venue was needed. This year’s event, which took place Jan. 17-21, brought together more than 800 participants, and saw growth of 500 participants, with panelists, speakers and industry insiders growing by 105%, and attending artists expanding by 65%.
