Why it matters: Registration ends for the spring 2026 semester Sunday, Jan. 11, and this is your one-stop shop for hands-on support with registration and other tasks. Whether you're new on campus or starting your last semester, this is a valuable resource for all.
Important details: Check-in will take place on the basement level of the University Administration Building and on the first floor of Trinity Hall, with signage to help guide you.
Sign up in advance. Although walk-ins are welcome, register here to better prepare us to serve you.

It's demolition time at CAPPA South A and B
|
A construction fence has been installed around CAPPA South A and B buildings in preparation for the demolition of the building. Both Buildings are being removed.
Why it matters: There may be some days or brief times throughout the day that the road between Texas Hall and CAPPA South may be blocked for trucks entering and exiting.
Important information: The fence was installed Monday, Dec. 15, and is expected to be removed by Friday, Jan. 30, 2026. Like all construction, this could change or be modified.

Reflection Room relocation
|
The Reflection Room, located in CAPPA South B, will be closed due to planned demolition and construction activity scheduled to begin over the winter break.
Why it matters: To ensure continued access to this important campus resource, the Reflection Room will be relocated to the Swift Center room 125. UTA recognizes that the Reflection Room is used daily by many members of our community.
Going deeper: Facilities Management is actively working on identifying and preparing a future permanent location that will better serve the needs of the campus community and continue to support a welcoming environment for all. Your patience and understanding are appreciated during this period of transition.
Important information: The current Reflection Room closes Thursday, Dec. 18, and the temporary Reflection Room opens Monday, Dec. 22, in Swift Center room 125.

UTA grad turns double-play, leverages passion for master's
|
Collin Clark, a fall 2025 graduate, turned his love of baseball stats into a master’s degree in applied statistics and data science.
Why it matters: Clark didn't follow the conventional path to his degree; his love for statistics grew from building teams in video games. He found his pathway by joining an early cohort in the new applied statistics and data science master’s program launched in fall 2023.
Going deeper: Driven by his passion for baseball and its statistics, Clark used his interest to build a path he was excited about. He is now pursuing a career in machine learning and potentially a Ph.D.

UTA physics grad sets sights on the stars
|
Like many kids, Shaan Patel spent nights staring at the sky, wondering what existed beyond the stars. Now he has his Ph.D. in physics from UTA.
Why it matters: When Dr. Patel walked the stage Friday, he became a standout example of what’s possible. During his four and a half years at UTA, he published four peer-reviewed articles and coauthored two others.
Going deeper: Through Patel's research and coursework, he developed in-demand skills, including applying problem-solving methods in complex environments and coding. This positioned him to pursue careers in data science, AI, consulting, and quantitative finance.

Maverick moot court teams earn national shot
|
Two moot court teams at UTA have advanced to the preliminary round of the American Moot Court Association’s National Tournament, where they’ll vie for one of 32 spots in the final round.
Why it matters: UTA students Jose Sparling, Timothy Flach, Danielle Pennycuff, and America Renteria will represent the University in January at the competition, held at Texas Tech School of Law.
Going deeper: Moot court is a simulated Supreme Court hearing in which participants present before a mock panel of judges and argue complex legal questions. Students in UTA’s moot court are part of the pre-law program.

👨💼 Are you interested in working on campus, but aren't sure where to start? Student Employment 101 is the place for you. Learn about the benefits of working on-campus, advice on applying to jobs, and resume tips. The event will be held Monday, Jan. 12, 2026 from 2-3 p.m.

💼 Have you been awarded work study, but don't know where to start or what it means? Attend Work Study 101 where you will learn all about how work study works and how to utilize your award. The event will be hosted Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026. from 2-3 p.m.

👩⚕️ International students interested in working on campus can attend Student Employment 101 for International Students to learn more about the different opportunities available on campus. The event will be hosted Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 from 2-3 p.m.

🥪 Still on campus? A limited number of dining locations will be open during winter break, with modified hours through Tuesday, Dec. 23. All dining locations will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Jan. 2, with select locations reopening Monday, Jan. 5. View the locations and hours from Maverick Dining.
